I am a teacher. This year I am showing Dedeuctable Self-Employment tax. It was not on last year's return. Why is this??

Where are you seeing that? Did you enter a W-2 or 1099Misc?
I entered my W-2 form on my own on the app. But I’m wanting to add a 1098-T form to add my tuition . I’m wondering if I can still add the 1098 form at another tax place like h&r or other places. Or If I amend , I’ll have to read more into it.
I also had a 1099-MISC showing $2000 for attending training and teaching a STEM Camp. This was paid separately by another entity and not my employer. I assume that is what it is then.
Did you report your income from a W2 or 1099 Misc? If from a 1099 Misc form, this indicates that you were a contractor and not an employee that is subject to self-employment tax.
Also if you were a W2 employee, check Box 13 on your W2 to make sure you did not indicate you are a statutory employee. Check your physical W2 and the entry made in your return.
Statutory employees are also subject to self-employment taxes.
Yes, and this needs to be reported in your return. To enter this select:
1) Federal>wages and income>jump to all income
2) Go to Other Common Income>show more
3) select Form 1099-MISC then select start
4) Here is where you enter the form 1099 Misc
The same thing is happening to me. Received 1099-C for classes I attended in apprenticeship program and it keeps showing up in business income- I don’t own a business and it’s giving me a self-employment deduction!
Are you referring to a 1099-MISC or 1099-C? A 1099-C is for cancellation of debt. A 1099-MISC is used to report miscellaneous income. Can you clarify?
I'm sorry - 1099-MISC - I entered it under 1099-Misc and Other income and it keeps populating in both places - under that section AND Business income. I do not have a business - received this as an incentive to attend school during my apprenticeship program and then it also is giving me an Deductible Self-employment of $89??
If you received a 1099-Misc with a Box 7 amount, you need to file Schedule C to report the income. While you may not have a "business", neither were you an employee.
Delete it from the Personal section. It is only included in the Business section.
