CTC Defaulting to $500

After adding dependent info for child born in 2025 is saying they do not qualify for the full CTC even though they satisfy every category. Under 17, all expenses paid, and income is well within limits. I have tried to remove the deduction info and dependent info and re-enter, but it returns to the same value. Value is correctly entered when using other tax prep software.

Be sure you said the new baby lived with you the WHOLE YEAR! Go back and check that.

If you had a child born in 2025- Add them under Personal Info or My Info. You need to answer 2 questions…..

Did your child live with you for the WHOLE year? Answer YES even if they were born late in the year (even on Dec 31).

Then was at least half of child's expenses paid by CHILD? Usually is NO.

And there might be a question if their ssn is valid for work. Should be yes.

Gone through the "My Info" multiple times. Tried removing all info and re-adding. All info provided correctly but TT defaults back to $500

two most common errors: 1) how long did Baby live with you....you must answer ALL YEAR.... even if Baby was born at 11:59 p.m. on December 31, the answer is still "all year" 2) recheck the date of birth..... the year should be '2025'
