Greetings!
I've been working with TT for many years and love the product. But, occasionally, because it's so complex there seems to be an error.
Since my son was born 15 years ago, I've always used the same and correct SSN. I entered it the first year and his SSN has been copied over every year without fail.
This year, his SSN was copied over. No problem. However, he started working in 2019 and received two W-2 statements. I've entered his W-2 information as received and it has the correct SSN.
Now that I'm ready to electronically submit our taxes, I'm receiving an error message that his SSN on the W-2 doesn't match the SSN on the information worksheet - but it does match! I have no desire to print out >250 pages of paper because of this TT error.
Can someone inside TT/Intuit please look into this issue or contact me so that I can try to demonstrate the error???
Thank you,
Tim
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You do NOT enter a dependent child's earned income from wages reported on W-2 on your tax return.
The child files their own tax return and indicates on their return that they can be claimed as a dependent.
Really? I didn't know that.
I'll start looking into that.
Thank you!
Thank you DoninGA!
I filed our taxes on Thursday and my son just filed his.
