Why did Turbo Tax only credit $500 per child if the married income is <$150K?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If the child is age 18 or older then they are only eligible for the Other Dependent credit of $500.
If the child is under the age of 18 then go back and verify the dates of birth and the amount of time the child lived in the home, should be the Whole year and that the child did not provide over one-half of their own support.
My child is only 11 months, I selected Whole year and did not pay for half support but still only $500 entered?
You also need to have your child's SSN issued and entered into your tax return for your child to be qualified for the Child Tax Credit.
See What is the Child Tax Credit? for more information.
Make sure you did not say the child has a SSN that says not valid for employment---that will mess you up.
Sometimes it helps to just delete the child and re-enter the child in My Info going very slowly to make sure you do not make any mistakes.
