We have not received any Child Tax Credit this year. We are filing as married filing jointly. When I enter the information about my child born in 2021 it simply states "Congrats you get a tax break for Child Tax Credit" then doesn't add anything to my federal refund. Will this be coming as a separate check or payment?

It was probably added before you noticed. It was added as soon as you entered your children. Not later when you enter what you already got. Check 1040 line 28 for it.
Before filing, You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return
thank you! so I think my mistake might have been that since he was born in June I noted that he only lived with us for 6 months.... but then once I switched it to the whole year (which is accurate he just wasn't born until midyear), it did show the tax credit! Hopefully this is how I should have done it?
Yes. If you had a child born in 2021- Add them under My Info. You need to answer 2 questions…..
Did your child live with you for the whole year? Answer YES even if they were born late in the year (even on Dec 31).
Then was at least half of child's expenses paid by CHILD? Usually is NO.
Thank you so much! This helps me so much!
