The child tax credit is only giving $500 per child.
Mom has an ITIN number and 2 children with SSN's.
Income is 67K before Head of Household standard deduction.
I filled out everything correctly -
With the parent for whole year, other parent not claiming, did not cover half of living expenses.
I am not sure why the system is only giving $500 per child.
Help please. Thank you!

Parent with ITIN is not eligible for CTC but can get the $500 credit for other dependents.
How old are the children?
The kids are 7 and 8 years old with valid SSN's. They are US citizens.
Because the Mom has an ITIN and not a valid Social Security Number she will only be eligible for the Other Dependent Credit of $500.
Due to changes made by the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) effective in 2025, you must have a valid SSN to claim the Child Tax Credit (CTC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). See Instructions for Schedule 8812 (Form 1040) (2025).

The parent can’t get CTC with an ITIN.
