We paid to my mother in law to take care of our 2yrs old child the whole year 2020 while we were both working full-time. The question: can we request the child credit expenses for it? Or because she is his grandmother we can't request it?

Yes, you can claim your child care expenses. However, you will be asked for the name and social security number of the person who provided the care.
