Did you look on 1040 line 28 for it? It was probably added before you noticed. It was added as soon as you entered your children. Not later when you enter what you already got.
Did you enter income earned from working? If you are filing a joint return you must show income from a W-2 or self-employment income that shows a net profit, and you must show income under each spouse's name.
Edited----were you asking about the child and dependent care credit or the child tax credit? Those are two different credits.
RE: Dependent CARE Tax Credit
When i entered my information for the deduction, it said I qualified and gave me the total. At the end when I was ready to file, in the summary, it showed $0 next to that credit. After digging, I discovered that turbo tax added that exact amount to my Taxes Paid total. So in the end my refund is correct, but the credit is not in the location it should be. I don't know if this is an error or not, and this is not how it looked last year. Either way at least the refund is right. Thanks for your help!
