Was it ever resolved? I'm getting it on estimated taxes and can't go further.
The 'looks like we hit a snag' error often relates to a connectivity issue. If you're using TurboTax Online, close the program, clear your Cache and Cookies and return to the section.
Make sure you've disabled your anti-virus software, which can block data transmission. Some users suggest using an 'incognito' window in your browser.
I am using the desktop version and entered some of my data through the Forms option instead of Step By Step. I think that is what caused the issue. I actually had to delete my saved return, and start over. This time I used the Step By Step option and the Charitable donations opened just fine.
I will say I used the Forms option to enter things like 1099Rs and some of my charitable donations before that area was officially released by Turbo tax. Won't do that again!
Everything is working as it should now.
That is not the issue. I am using the Desktop version. I entered some 1099R data and charitable data using the forms option prior to those areas being officially released. When the update came for them and I could select charitable donations through the Step by Step option, I got the SNAG error. I just deleted the whole return and started new using the Step by Step and everything worked fine. Must have been something the Forms entry allowed me to do that caused the Step by Step to throw an error. It would be nice to get a more specific error message so I could narrow it down instead of having to start over.
In hindsight, I’ll wait until that area is open before entering data.
