Never having considered anything as a carryover before I am probably using incorrect terminology; please be patient.
When I sold an old car it gave me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give large $11,000 donation to a charity I support. Even this large of contribution combined with others still didn't get me over the standard deduction so, in-effect, this donation was "ignored" as it made no difference whatsoever on my tax return.
Am I allowed to use an "ignored" donation like this as a "carryover" contribution this year, or is it allowable only when it is rejected or limited due to limits based on a percentage of my AGI?
TurboTax did not bring it forward from 2022 to 2023.
