Capital gains and home purchase

My spouse and I separated earlier this year. He moved to another state. He sold a marital mutual fund to purchase his own home and now wants me to share the burden of the Capital Gains on the asset. I am not on the deed of the new home. I kept our former home which is paid off. Am I responsible for the taxes on an asset I do not own
