Can you use the car expenses and use the standard deductions for your 1040 other expenses

If I use the standard deductions for by 1040 can I take off the expenses for my gas or is that a part of the standard deduction expense figure.

Yes. The Standard Deduction, however, is completely separate from the standard mileage rate option for reporting vehicle mileage. It is important to note that, due to Tax Reform, employees can no longer deduct vehicle mileage.  This deduction is only available as business deductions.
