If you gave in cash/check, yes.
If you gave in property (stocks, household goods, etc.) and it was $500 or less, yes.
If you gave in property and it was over $500, no. You need all of the details.
For gifts of money, the IRS does not need the details, only the total. (Money means cash, checks, or credit cards.) For non-cash gifts over $500, and that includes stocks as well as other property, you must give all the details requested and TurboTax will fill out a form 8283 that will be included with your tax return.
