can we claim our full-time college student who works

Can we claim our 21yo full-time college student if he also works and pays his own rent/expenses and uses loans to pay for school. I have one student loan in my name for him.

Yes, you can claim your son as a dependent if he does not provide for more than half of his own support. You can also claim his education credits.

If he files his own return, he must indicate in the My Info section of TurboTax that he can be claimed as a dependent by someone else.

Thank you for your reply.

He pays for his rent, utilities, gas and food.

We pay for phone, vehicle insurance, health insurance, life insurance and we do help out with gas and expense money occasionally when work is slow for him.  Do the cost of the insurances count towards his living expenses/support?

Thanks!

Loans in your name or cosigned by you count as support provided by you.  Loans in only his name is support provide by him, Scholarships are third party support and do not count as his own support.
