The energy tax credit is a non-refundable credit. It can only reduce your tax liability to zero. The excess is not paid out but carried forward to future years.

When you completed the 2024 Home Energy Credit section of the TurboTax program did you indicate that you had a 2023 credit carryforward (Form 5695 Line 16) and the amount of the carryforward?
