Can Not Get Taxes to Efile. Hung up on $300 Charitable Contribution. Will not take 0 or 200. In a loop. Cannot file federal return.

Please try this solution to enter the charitable cash contribution for 12b:

1. Open you return
2. Click "Federal"
3. Click “Deductions &Credits” on the top
4. Click "I'll choose what to work on" (do not enter any donations under Charitable donations)
5. Scroll all the way down and click the "Done with deductions" button
6. Continue after the "The Standard Deduction is right for you!" screen
7. Continue until the "Get a tax break for donating cash to charity" screen
8. Enter your charitable cash contributions (do not enter more than $600 for married filing jointly or $300 for all other filing statuses).

I first tried $600, then $300, and both gave same error.   I then went in and changed it to show total Charitable Contributions to be $290, and it took and filed.    I definitely think there is a program issue on that check in the deductions section when filing.

@DanaB27 gave you the proper procedure; however, you must clear all charitable donations from the Deductions and Credits. Charitable Donations area of the return.

Once those are cleared, Dana27's process will work.
