Can my wife and I move from itemizing to a 1040 with standard deduction? Do they just use your last years forms?

TurboTax will start off with the standard deduction.  If you enter more itemized deductions than your standard deduction amount, TurboTax will switch to itemized deductions.  So, if you do not enter any itemized deductions, you will get the standard deductions.  To verify your deduction, type this exact phrase into the search bar and hit enter.  Use copy and paste as it has to be exact.    itemized deductions, choosing
