Can I still get my tax return if my care provider owes back child support?

I'm trying to file my taxes but since I didn't work very much in 2016, because I gave birth to my daughter and was a stay at home mom, I have to list a provider but my provider owes back child support and I don't want my tax return taken away.

Can I still get my tax return if my care provider owes back child support?

Yes, you can. Your child care provider's back child support will not affect your tax return. The IRS will only offset a debt if your social security number is tagged by the Child support office. The care provider's social security number is only needed on your tax return so that you can receive your credit for the child and dependent care credit. The child care provider's tax offset will be processed when she files her own tax return.
