Can i somehow claim the 6000 out of pocket i spent on medical expenses?

Will you have enough to Itemize?  You can only deduct the amount of unreimbursed Medical Expenses you actually paid over 7.5% (2017).  And then all your itemized deductions has to be more than the standard deduction to get any benefit (so you would only be getting the benefit of the amount that puts you over the standard deduction).

For 2017 the standard deduction amounts are:
Single 6,350 + 1,550 for 65 and over
HOH 9,350 + 1,550 for 65 and over
Joint 12,700 + 1,250 for each 65 and over
Married filing Separate 6,350 + 1,550 for 65 and over

Medical, dental, and vision expenses are reported on Schedule A and entered in the Deductions & Credits section:

1. Open your tax return.
   (To do this, sign in to TurboTax and click the Take me to my return button.)
2. Search for Schedule A and then click the "Jump to" link in the search results.
3. Answer Yes on the Did you have any medical expenses in 2017? screen.
4. You will then be prompted to enter your medical expenses, starting with prescriptions.

If you're using Federal Free Edition or Basic and your medical expenses are large enough that you would benefit from itemizing deductions, you'll be prompted to upgrade to Deluxe, as the Federal Free and Basic versions do not handle Schedule A.
