Can I report the 2018 Property taxes I had to pay at closing as additional taxes to what shows on my 1098 from the mortgage company?

Is the amount a Mortgage company traditionally puts on a 1098, taxes paid for the previous year (in arrears), ie. in 2018, my escrow paid 2017 taxes correct?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure that I understand your question...

Sorry about that. The amount on my 1098 shows taxes paid from Escrow.  I think those taxes paid in 2018 that they reported are for the year 2017. That is why I have to settle up and bring current all due taxes when I sell the house.

I think so... if you paid 2017 taxes in 2018, then you can deduct them in 2018...
