Can I report my motor vehicle tax that I paid under personal property taxes?
You can deduct the fee paid for your car registration if it’s a yearly fee based on the value of your vehicle and you itemize your deductions (Schedule A) under the Personal Property Tax.
You can’t deduct the total amount you paid, only the portion of the fees that are based on your vehicle’s value.
