Can I remove a provider from the Wisconsin and Dependent Care Credit screen?

It is listing my employer who contributed to the child care fund, but did not supply any child care....if left in, it asks me to provide EIN and address, but it shouldn't be listed to begin with.

Follow these steps to change things:

  1. Start with the federal child care and make sure your employer is not listed there as a daycare provider.
    1. Your w2 box 10 shows the connection for expenses,
    2. I wonder if your program had a hiccup and added them as a provider?
    3. Delete/ trash can the wrongly added care provider.
  2. Wi pulls in from the federal screen.  Once federal is 100% correct, move to WI. Is your form correct now?
    1. Yes, great
    2. No, data is stuck some somewhere. Follow these steps:

Desktop version:

  1. Delete the WI childcare
  2. Save your return while closing the program.
  3. Update the program
  4. Open
  5. Enter the information again.

Online version:

For stuck information follow these steps:

  1. Delete the WI childcare - see How to Delete
  2. Log out of your return and try one or more of the following:
    • Don't use Internet Explorer.
    • Clear cache and cookies,
    • Sign in using a different browser.
    • Sign in using a different device.
  3. Log back into your return.
    • Enter the information again.

If you still have trouble, delete the federal childcare as well and try again.

Can I remove a provider from the Wisconsin and Dependent Care Credit screen?

I have tried all of these:

  • Don't use Internet Explorer.
  • Clear cache and cookies,
  • Sign in using a different browser.
  • Sign in using a different device.

This did not work. I've deleted as much as it allows me.  I've restarted Wisconsin return 3x times.  My employer is no longer showing on the federal form as a "provider", but is on the state form still...Each time I try and fix it, my refund value is decreasing and I am starting to loose confidence in TurboTax as a software provider.

You may need to delete your State return, and step through the state interview again to let it repopulate properly from your corrected Federal return.

Here's How to Delete a State in TurboTax Desktop and How to Delete a State in TurboTax Online.

Let me verify, when you added your actual care provider and the screen says "Since your employer provided dependent care benefits, we need to know how much you spent."- You should assign the funds from the employer to that provider.

Double check that you assigned the funds correctly.

If the money is FSA and not used, it would be taxable income with no 2441 on your return. I don't believe this is your issue.
