Can I deduct my medical insurance deductible paid?

Unreimbursed medical expenses are an itemized medical deduction on Sch A. You can deduct an amount of total medical expenses greater than 7.5 percent of your AGI.

Yes. Enter any deductibles are medical expenses. You'll have to split the amounts you paid into categories such as fees for doctors and dentists, hospital charges and lab and X-rays.

Here's how to enter your medical expenses:

  • Type medical expenses in Search in the upper right
  • Click Jump to medical expenses
  • TurboTax will estimate the amount of medical expenses needed to be added to your itemized deductions for those deductions to make a difference. You will not be able to deduct medical expenses if you use the standard deduction.
