Can I deduct my disabled son who is 66? I pay the mortgage, the utilities, the grocery bills. He does not bring in enough to contribute to the household expenses.

He does, but it is his social security.  I had heard that social security did not count towards his income.  Is this true?

His Social Security does not count toward the $4050 amount for claiming him as a dependent.  But do you have taxes withheld from your own source of income?  Will claiming him help you?  You get his $4050 personal exemption,, which lowers the amount of income you are taxed on fi you claim him as your dependent.  You do not receive any sort of refund for claiming him.
