If the main purpose of the trip was to buy the needed supplies, then you can claim the mileage and the costs of meals (in addition to the cost of supplies) as business expenses.

Please note that meals can only be claimed for 50% of their costs.

500 something miles. (exact answer buried under paper at the moment) It was a day trip.
