Can I deduct a deductible I paid for a surgery I had in 2017?

If you itemize your deductions, then you can deduct the out of pocket medical expenses you had for your surgery, as well as any other unreimbursed medical expenses.

The total of your medical expenses would need to exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income to receive any benefit from the deduction. You can always enter all of your medical expenses in the Medical section and TurboTax will let you know if you have enough to meet the threshold requirements.
