You can claim it but it is claimed as sales tax on a major purchase not as a personal property tax. You can deduct sales taxes or state income but not both. It is an itemized deduction. You may get a tax benefit from it if you claim sales taxes and the total of all your itemized deductions is more than the standard deduction.
