The house I live in is in my mom's name. She is disabled and I claim her as my dependant. The land is in my grandfather's name. He passed away about 30 years ago. She is the only surviving relative but the deed has never been changed over. Can I claim the property tax I've paid?

It is not really your tax as you are not legally liable to pay it.
I understand why you do it and I would do the same in your situation. It must be your tax to be deductible however.
You also must be able to itemize on your tax return to be able to claim this, so your itemized deductions would have to exceed the standard deduction before it impacts your return.
