This is considered a personal non-deductible expense of your household.

While the federal government doesn't provide energy tax credits for gas generators -- some states do.  

I don't know which state you reside in, however, you may want to check with the local power company regarding rebates, and the State Department of Revenue website, for a possible state deduction.
