Can I claim one-half nursing home expenses for my mother?
@barbwood1946 to claim your mother's medical expenses on your tax return rquires:
1) you are able to claim her as a dependent
2) only the part of the her total medical expenses (including your own and after any insurance reimbursements) that exceeds 7.5% of YOUR income is deductible
3) and you must have enough expenses (including other medical expenses state and local income tax, mortgage expenses and charitable contributions) to itemize your expenses/

Please explain. Why "half?" Do you claim your mother as a dependent on your own tax return? Who is paying the other half of the costs?
