Can I claim my vehicle as my home office for self employed business expenses since I travel for my job and do most of my work from there? As well as claim repairs and maintenance to said vehicle?

No.

A vehicle will not qualify for the home office expense. However, if you track the mileage you drive for business and your total mileage, you can deduct the business portion of all your actual vehicle expenses or you can deduct the standard IRS mileage rate for your business mileage.

The rates for 2016 and 2017 are as follows:

  • 2016 54 cents
  • 2017 53.5 cents
