Can I claim my out of pocket dental expenses

Yes, you can include dental and optical expenses in the section with your other medical expenses.  Please note that Medical Expenses are deductible only to the extent they exceed 10% of the taxpayer’s adjusted gross income (7.5% if either taxpayer is age 65 or older).  For example, if you are under age 65 and your AGI is $50,000, the first $5,000 of medical expenses are not deductible.  Everything above that will be added to your other itemized deductions.
