Can I claim mortgage interest paid in 2017 but not included in my 2017 return?

No. If you want to claim the mortgage interest paid in 2017, then you'll have to amend your 2017 tax return.

Unfortunately, you cannot include the mortgage interest you paid in 2017 on your 2018 income tax return.  You would have to file an amended 2017 income tax return.
