Unless you’re self-employed, tax preparation fees are no longer deductible in tax years 2018 through 2025 due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that Congress signed into law on December 22, 2017. Self-employed taxpayers can still write off their tax prep fees as a business expense.

If you run a business, you can deduct the tax preparation cost of preparing the business tax return. For instance, if you purchase the Home and Business TurboTax product because you need it to prepare a schedule C to report your business income and expenses, you can deduct the additional cost of the tax product from your business income on the schedule C.
If you don't report business income on your tax return, you can not deduct the cost of your TurboTax product on your tax return.
