Can I claim items donated in January 2018 on 2017 taxes?

The new tax code changes were finalized late in 2017.  I was unable to organize and donate a large number of charitable items until January 2018.  I expect to use the new standard deduction for 2018 taxes so if I cannot find a way to claim the January 2018 donation on my 2017 taxes then it will not help my tax situation.  Thank you.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to take the deduction in 2017.  You can take the deduction for your contribution in the year that you make it. For more information you can read here - Charitable Contributions
