Can i choose not to file my 1098 mortgage form if it does not affect my return?

Filing the 1098 will increase the cost of my filing but it does not affect the amount refunded or due.

for Federal purposes there is no need to enter this info if you are not itemizing. however, some states allow itemized deductions even if the federal doesn't.  to give you more guidance, if you need to file a state income tax return, what state?
