Only unreimbursed out-of-pocket medical expenses can be claimed as an itemized deduction.

If you are reimbursed, you can't claim your medical expenses.

You cannot literally get reimbursed for your out-of-pocket medical expenses on your tax return. You can enter them as medical expenses under Deductions & Credits. But on your federal tax return only medical expenses in excess of 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) are deductible. (Enter the full amount that you paid in TurboTax. TurboTax will subtract 7.5% of your AGI.) In addition, medical expenses are an itemized deduction. They will not reduce your tax or increase your refund unless your total itemized deductions are more than your standard deduction.

Even if you do benefit from the deduction, it is not a dollar-for-dollar reduction of your tax. The itemized deductions are subtracted from your taxable income, not from your tax. The amount of the reduction in your tax depends on what tax bracket your income is in.

In some states the medical expenses might reduce your state tax even if they do not provide any benefit on your federal tax return. You can enter the expenses in the federal section of TurboTax and they will flow to the state tax return.
