Can a self-employed person that is only paid as 1099 deduct for per diem costs for lodging & meals when working away from home for several months? Where do I enter this?
The meals can be deducted as per diem costs on your Schedule C under Meals and Entertainment. The lodging costs must be a separate deduction and you must have receipts.
