I have AMT Credit Carryover from 2024 which I want to mention in my 2025 tax return. When I add it to the interface, it gets correctly added, but I won't use it this year (it'll be a carryover).
What I would expect is to have Form 1116 Schedule B populated or at least form 6251. However, none of these 2 get generated. How can I address this? I don't want to lose track of this credit

If you're using TurboTax Desktop, in FORMS type in '6251' and you can open the worksheet. This should populate Form 1116 Schedule B for your records, though it's not a part of the tax filing, if you're not subject to AMT. On the Form 6251 itself, Line 40 has a checkbox to file the form, even if not required.
Here's more info on Form 6251.
Thank you! Is this possible somehow in the online version?
Form 8801 is the form you need. Form 8801 (Credit for Prior Year Minimum Tax) allows individuals, estates, and trusts to claim a tax credit for Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) paid in previous years and to calculate any carryforward to future years.
