Amending my 2018 1040 tax return

I’m fixing to do Amend to update a few things I didn’t do 6 months ago with my previous hotel job and my Ride Share business on my 2018 TurboTax Self Employed.

I have already use the “ Standard Mileage Rate “ to get the huge deduction on my 2018 tax return for my Rideshare business.

Can I use my gas expense ($1585.04) as deduction for my Rideshare business in my Amend ?

Thanks

Dwayne

No, you can't do that. To claim the expenses for your car you use either standard mileage or actual expenses such as gas, maintenance, repairs, insurance, etc. The standard mileage rate includes the cost of gas and all other expenses. You can't claim both standard mileage and actual expenses. That would be claiming the same expense twice.
