A family friend watched my child for the year, how do I claim the expenses

You may be able to claim the Child and Dependent Care Credit for this expense, if you  incurred the expense so that you could work.

You would need to have your friend's personal information, including her address and Social Security Number in order to claim this expense.

To enter this information:

  • Go to the Federal Taxes Tab, and choose Deductions and Credits.
  • Under all tax breaks, scroll to You and Your Family and choose Child and Dependent Care Credit .
