$7,500 EV credit

I transferred the $7,500 credit to the dealer for a new vehicle (Tesla Y 2025), but when filling out form 8936, on line 16 where it says “maximum vehicle credit amount” it lists $4000. Help.

Please double-check that you selected that you purchased a 'new' vehicle instead of a 'used' one. That can limit the credit amount to $4000 before you have even specified what vehicle you bought.
