529 carryover contributions if children are no longer dependents

How do I input a 529 carryover contribution in Virginia if my children are no longer dependents?   Do I have to claim my youngest child as a dependent but state that he is claimed on another tax return as a dependent (his own) or can I manually override this item on my Virginia return to add the 529 carryover contribution into the Virginia form? Thanks!

If you or your spouse are the account owner for the Virginia 529 plan, then you may enter your carryover contributions as part of your state return.  Contributions to the accounts are not tied to any dependents on your return.

Look for the screen titled, 'Here's the income that Virginia handles differently' to get started.  On that page, there will be a section for Education > Virginia College Savings Prepaid Tuition (Section 529) Plan.
