1098c donation of car

I donated a motorcycle last year - technically 2018 - however the 1098C is TY2017 with  Date of contribution of 02/12/2018.  Should I or can I amend 2017 taxes or should this really be applied to 2018?

I would contact the charitable organization and ask for a corrected 1098-C form. You would report it in the year you actually donated it, which is 2018, from the information you provided.

• Most individuals are cash basis, calendar year taxpayers. Income is not counted until cash (or a check) is actually received, and donations/expenses are not counted until they are actually given/paid.
