On the 2025 Deductions and Credits page > Your Home > Mortgage Interest, ...
My property taxes are not paid through mortgage lender. I get an option to upload the 1098 information. When I select upload, the property taxes get assigned as being paid to the mortgage lender so the next screen I get is only for additional property taxes, 2nd residence taxes, etc. The property tax amount is not listed anywhere on the 1098.
This does not happen when I enter the 1098 information myself. When I enter the 1098 information the property tax field stay $0.00 until I enter it on the property tax field.
Sounds like a bug.

If you upload a 1098, TurboTax will post it exactly as it was presented by the lending institution. The program does not add or delete anything!
I have a hard copy 1098 from my lender. According to the IRS instructions on Form 1098: "Box 10. The interest recipient may use this box to give you other information, such as real estate taxes or insurance paid from escrow." There is no amount in Box 10 on my hard copy 1098. That is correct because I paid my property taxes directly to the county. So the lender has the correct information on the 1098 so I have no idea where TurboTax is getting that amount to include in the download data.
I think you mean when you upload the Form 1098 from your lender, the property tax paid mysteriously appears posted in TurboTax. If so, it must be included in the information uploaded from your lender, even though it is not listed on the form 1098 that you print out. TurboTax would have no way of knowing what the amount is unless it was on the upload from the lender, assuming you did not enter the amount in your program.
