Hi,
I moved in July of 2023 from VA to D.C. My W-2 for the first 7 months of the year, while living in VA is correct, but my new D.C. W-2 seems to be incorrect. It lists the state for filing as Virginia in slot #15 and at the bottom it says "VA. State Filing Copy." How can I best reconcile this while filing? When I went to file I got some money back from VA, but seemed to owe a lot more to D.C. than I was expecting. Does this seem correct? Thanks in advance!

Yes, you would need to file a Part-Year Resident State Return for both Virginia and DC.
If you are able to identify the income you earned while living in DC, and if you paid any DC tax, TurboTax will calculate the tax for each state.
If the correct amount of Virginia tax was withheld on your VA income, then you would break even there or get a small refund.
However, if VA tax was withheld on DC income, then yes, you may owe DC.
Prepare your VA return first, then DC.

But will TurboTax take into account the amount withheld on my D.C. income that went to VA? Thanks!
Yes, DC will give you credit for tax you paid to VA on DC income.
