Why want it let me enter the date we became a resident of this state?

If you were a resident of a state for all of 2023 there is no date to enter. If you moved to your current resident state in 2023 then you enter the date you moved from your prior state to your resident state in 2023.

Is the date in 2023? The software is only asking questions about tax year 2023. Did you move into the state in 2023?
