Why isn't turbo tax showing me itemized deduction for new york tax? I am filling as non-resident. My federal tax is itemized

Between my child's college tuition and property tax I should get better tax break with itemized deduction for my NY tax. TT does not show itemized option at all

Itemized deductions:

• child's tuition - could be a deduction or credit, usually credit is better
• property tax is deductible but must be reduced by STAR credit

Standard deduction $8,000 / $16,050 MFJ

If the program determined the tuition credit is best for you and your property tax is less than the standard deduction, then taking the standard deduction with the credit is better for you. 

Take a look at your NY return to verify you got the education credit and double check the tax on your property against the standard deduction.
