Why is there an exemption for self and spouse on state return but not federal return?
Personal exemptions were eliminated on the federal return when the new tax law took effect on 1/1/2018. Each state has its own tax laws that will allow or not allow personal exemptions. Your state allows it if it is showing in the software.
