If there is other activity on Schedule NR, the combined number will post.

The Income from Form 4835 will initially be reported on Michigan Schedule NR, Line 7 and then carry to Schedule 1, Line 13.

To correctly sort the income in TurboTax, enter the state of residence on December 31 last.

If it was entered first, delete both states and re-enter them to correctly handle the income allocation.

For more information, see: 2020 Michigan Nonresident and Part-Year Resident Schedule.

How do I allocate (split) income for a part-year state return?

KathrynG3 (Employee Tax Expert):
Thank you for your email regarding my question about why my
Iowa 4835 Farm income does not appear on my form Michigan
Schedule 1 "Additions and Subtractions", line 13 "Income
attributable to another state."
I am a full time Michigan resident so do not use form NR.
I assume  form NR is for non-residents of Michigan.  Do you
have any other additional explanation or advice?  In past years
my  CPA was able to enter my Iowa farm rent in this line 13.
I did complete Iowa form before starting Michigan form.
